From the play, Ophelia first got mad after her father’s death. Later, she climbed into the willow trees and then a branch broke which dropped her into the brook where she drowned.

My Ophelia’s Last Dance is a miniature with various moods and pace. It starts with portraying mysterious sounds in a forest. Then two distinctive dances follow catching the elegance yet obscure dancing of mad Ophelia. The music then focuses on the drowning scene with sounds of brook and the still water. Finally, the dance of the angel of Ophelia appears in the highest register.

On the other hand, this piece will be a challenge to performer’s skill of interpretation, sense of texture and imagination. There is also a passage for performer to improvise to create more varieties. I hope this piece will bring enjoyments and interests to you.
